In Italy, Easter is a joyous celebration, featuring parades and decadent food. Because Easter is the end of the Lent season, food – and desserts — plays a big part in Italian celebrations. They treat their sweets with seriousness, using nothing but the freshest ingredients.
Two popular ingredients in Italian desserts are chocolate and hazelnuts. Combined now because they’re delicious together, chocolate and hazelnuts were originally combined for a much more practical reason. According to Nutella history at http://www.nutellausa.com/history.htm, there was a short supply of chocolate during World War II due to rationing. To extend the supply, Pietro Ferrero (an Italian chocolatier) used hazelnuts, which were plentiful in the northwest region of Italy.
Lucky for us, this delicious combination remained available long after chocolate rationing ended, and the two flavors were brought to the United States in 1983. Today, we have combined the sweetness of the hazelnut with our delicious milk chocolate – and then added our marshmallow to the mix – for an amazing treat called the Italian Kiss.
Celebrate Easter like the Italians this year with our Italian Kiss, and experience why the Italians love the amazing combination of hazelnut puree and milk chocolate. You won’t be able to resist the way the two flavors come together with the marshmallow – and we don’t want you to. This taste combination will satisfy your inner child’s sweet tooth while still being worldly enough for the adult in you.
Our Italian Kiss is so good, you just may want to ration them to make them last longer, as Ferrero did. Lucky for you, it’s easy to order more — contact us today! And if you “like” Marshmallow Mischief on Facebook, we’ll give you $5 off your order. Amore!
